A review of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1995 was initiated in my Department last September, one year after the commencement of the regulations. As part of this review, all licensing authorities were asked for their comments on the operation and application of the regulations. A number of authorities have submitted responses to date which are quite detailed and involve a number of complex issues, while submissions are still awaited from some authorities. I cannot say, at this stage, how long it will take to examine all of the submissions and issues arising and to determine what action, if any, is required. There will, however, be no avoidable delay in dealing with the matter.
