Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

275 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will re-examine an application for a higher education grant by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny on the accounts submitted with a view to having the grant paid. [21902/96]

Under the terms of the third level student support schemes, the reckonable income to be determined for the purposes of the award of a grant is gross income from all sources of the candidate and his-her parents or guardians where applicable.

I understand from Kilkenny County Council, the body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the higher education grants scheme, that the reckonable income in the case of the student in question exceeds the income limit. Therefore, he is ineligible for student support.
