Adjournment Debate Matters.

The House will be aware that I was unable to proceed with Question Time today owing to obstruction and disorder prevailing. I propose to recommence the business of the House by announcing the matters to be raised on the Adjournment.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Kirk — the need for a comprehensive survey of radon gas levels in County Louth; (2) Deputy Dan Wallace — the urgent need to make funding available to alleviate the hardship caused by the recent flooding in Cork; (3) Deputy Lynch — the urgent need to make funding available to alleviate the hardship caused by the recent flooding in Cork; (4) Deputy Matt Brennan — the refusal of the Government to provide matching funding to upgrade the Sligo Regional Technical College to full university status; (5) Deputy Brendan Smith — the need to confer full-time status on Cavan Education Centre; (6) Deputy Briscoe — the financial difficulties being faced by the Awareness publishing information and communications centre for the disabled; (7) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the urgent need to commence work on the new special school at Scoil Triest, Lota, County Cork; (8) Deputy de Valera — the need to outline a national policy for the personal assistants of people with disabilities; (9) Deputy Davern — the urgent need for works planned for the High School, Clonmel, County Tipperary to be advanced from stage 4 to stage 5; (10) Deputy Ring — the need for the Minister for Health to intervene to prevent the reduction in the hours worked by home help staff in County Mayo for budgetary reasons rather than medical ones as this service is vital to the elderly; (11) Deputy Hugh Byrne — the need to address the flooding in King Street, Wexford, County Wexford; (12) Deputy Geoghegan-Quinn — the need for the Minister for Health to intervene if the plans announced by British United Provident Association infringe community rating principles; (13) Deputy Martin — the urgent need to allocate funding for the commencement of work on a new school building for Scoil Triest, Lota, County Cork, which provides a comprehensive service to children with special needs; (14) Deputy Quill — the impending closure of the Irish Crown Cork Company Limited, Churchfield, Cork city and the need to boost employment on the north side of the city; (15) Deputy Flood — the serious situation in relation to the inappropriate placement in hospitals of children taken into emergency care by the Eastern Health Board; (16) Deputy McCreevy — the position regarding the funding for the Connolly/Maynooth rail line as recommended in the Dublin Transport Initiative; (17) Deputy Joe Walsh — the failure to allocate funding to provide necessary facilities to off shore islands.

The matters raised by Deputies Geoghegan-Quinn, Dan Wallace, Matt Brennan and Martin have been selected for discussion.
