For the purpose of the reply to the Deputy, the information represents the position at 30 September 1996.
The number of staff within my Department on special leave for the purpose of career break on that date was 263. There were also 19 officers on special leave, either paid or unpaid, under the provisions of Department of Finance regulations governing the grant of special leave. The number of staff serving in a job-sharing capacity, in a variety of approved attendance patterns, was 443.
