Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Community Employment Scheme.

Brendan Smith

Ceist:

372 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the secondary benefits that participants on community employment schemes are allowed to retain following their commencement on such schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21886/96]

Participants on community employment can retain all secondary social welfare benefits they had prior to participating on the programme, subject to an income limit of £250 per week. These benefits include butter vouchers, fuel allowance, medical cards, differential rent allowance. In addition all participants receive a Christmas bonus similar to that paid to social welfare recipients.
