Vol. 471 No. 7

Written Answers. - Finner (Donegal) Military Camp.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

426 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Defence when repairs will be carried out at Finner Military Camp, Ballyshannon, County Donegal, in order to provide proper facilities for the emergency air and sea rescue services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21573/96]

Serious damage was caused to the doors and roof of the hangar at Finner Camp in the recent storm. Replacement of the roof and other extensive repairs will be necessary to restore the hangar to use. Steps are being taken with a view to placing a contract for the work which is outside the scope of the Corps of Engineers to undertake. Pending the return to service of the hangar, the Air Corps has relocated its aircraft to Carrickfin Aerodrome from where search and rescue coverage for the North West area is being provided.
