109 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to amend the building regulations to take account of excessive radon gas levels in different parts of the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23943/96]

I intend to amend the building regulations and to publish a new set of supporting technical guidance documents early in 1997. These will contain new provisions in relation to radon in new dwellings.
