Vol. 472 No. 6

Other Questions. - Use of Military Property.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

12 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence if he will give details of the military property which is under-utilised or identified as surplus; the considerations or proposals, if any, he has in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23719/96]

Military property outside of barracks which is surplus to requirements and which is not required for other State purposes is offered for sale by the Department of Defence in accordance with Government policy. Buildings within barracks which become surplus to requirements are converted for other military uses where appropriate. The property requirements of the Defence Forces are kept under continual review in order to maintain security and operational efficiency.
