137 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to modernise the lists of equipment specified for new community and other schools for the teaching of certain practical subjects; and her views on whether many of the instruments currently listed are obsolete. [23874/96]

My Department's post primary building unit, in conjunction with the inspectorate, has initiated a review of the equipment lists for the teaching of certain practical subjects. This review will be completed as soon as possible and any recommendations will be incorporated into the relevant equipment lists.
