Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John O'Donoghue

Ceist:

140 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the refurbishing and replacing of Gaelscoil Faithleann, Killarney, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23894/96]

I included the provision of a new eight classroom school for Gaelscoil Faithleann in Killarney in my Department's 1995 capital programme. The inclusion of the project enables it to progress through architectural planning.

The current position is that a suitable site has been identified for the construction of the new school and a planning application has been lodged. On receipt of planning permission and fire certificate the project will be progressed.

Ceist:

114 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education the steps, if any, she intends to take with a view to refurbishing and replacing Tulloha national school, Kenmare, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23895/96]

I approved the inclusion of a new school building for Tulloha national school in my Department's 1996 list of primary school projects for planning.

The current position on the project is that planning permission for the project has been approved and a fire certificate for the project is currently awaited.

On receipt of this document my Department's architectural staff will commence the preparation of working drawings and tender-contract documents.

When all planning work has been completed, a decision on the tender and contract process will be taken in the light of other priority projects, and available financial resources. There are no plans to refurbish the existing building because it is scheduled for replacement.

Ceist:

142 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education the steps, if any, she intends to take with a view to replacing and refurbishing Aghacasla national school, Tralee, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23896/96]

An extension for Aughacasla national school was included in my Department's 1994 capital programme. The project was delayed by difficulties relating to site restrictions and the siting of the septic tank. These matters have now been resolved. The present position is that all planning work has been completed and my Department's architects are currently preparing the contract documents for the project.

A decision on the timing of the tender process will be taken in the light of existing contractual commitments for 1997, and funds which will be available in 1997. Both of these matters are under consideration at present and I expect that the process will be completed shortly.

Liam Aylward

143 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange payment of the balance of a grant on a final account submitted to the board of management of a school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [23918/96]
