Vol. 472 No. 6

Written Answers. - Traffic Warden Service.

Michael McDowell

Ceist:

159 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the uncertainty regarding the future of traffic wardens in the Dublin metropolitan area; the plans, if any, there are to relocate these unestablished State employees; and her intentions in this regard. [23651/96]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 493 of 25 September 1996 on the issue of the proposed transfer of the traffic warden service to Dublin Corporation.

The Minister for the Environment in reply to a parliamentary question on 3 December 1996 stated that the consultative study has now been completed and that he is arranging discussions with Dublin Corporation with a view to appointing a director of traffic early in 1997.

As yet no date for the transfer of the traffic warden service to Dublin Corporation has been fixed.
