203 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applicants per county for headage payments who have not been paid due to the fact that his Department cannot locate an area aid application for the applicant. [23763/96]
Out of over 132,000 applicants for area aid in 1996 there are less than 300 cases where my Department has no record of having received a 1996 area aid application. The herdowners in question were requested, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the area aid scheme, to provide a certificate of postage as evidence that an application form was submitted. So far 234 herdowners have submitted valid certificates of postage and replacement applications have been accepted. Replies are awaited from the remaining 66 applicants.
206 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the current position regarding a first application under the REP scheme which has been finalised by the Teagasc office in July 1996; and when payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [23822/96]
The applicant applied for first year payment under the REP scheme and was selected for a prepayment check. The agri-environmental plan was found to contain deficiencies and these must be rectified before the application can be approved.

The application for first year payment from the person concerned has been approved. Payment will issue shortly.
