232 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to an article in the August edition of the "Irish Defender" which indicated that he was personally consulting with PDFORRA under his own initiative; the progress, if any, arising from these discussions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. All matters coming within the scope of representation are discussed and, where appropriate, negotiated with PDFORRA under the auspices of the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Permanent Defence Force. At some of my frequent meetings with the general officers of that association the more important aspects of some of those matters are discussed. PDFORRA has acknowledged that such meetings are useful and I will continue to meet with the representative association.
