85 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the non-governmental associations he has consulted regarding his proposed amendments to the Wildlife Act, 1976; and when he intends to introduce amendments to this Act. [23876/96]
My Department consulted the following non-governmental associations in the course of drawing up the draft scheme of a Bill to amend the Wildlife Act, 1976: Bird Watch Ireland (formally the Irish Wildbird Conservancy); Irish Wildlife Trust (formally the Irish Wildlife Federation); Irish Peatland Conservation Council; Irish Deer Society; Southern Deer Society; An Taisce; Irish Farmers Association; Field and Country Sports Society; Country Sports Association; Other Hunting Society and National Association of Regional Game Councils.
I hope to introduce the Bill in the Oireachtas early in the new year.
