Smith asked the Minister for Health the stage of planning of the proposed nursing units for the elderly at Virginia and Ballyconnell, County Cavan; if funding will be provided for these projects in the 1997 capital budget allocation to the North-Eastern Health Board; when tenders will be invited; when construction work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Limerick East): The provision of long-stay nursing units in County Cavan is, in the first instance, a matter for the North-Eastern Health Board. The North-Eastern Health Board informs me that both projects are at an early planning stage and therefore it is not possible to say when construction work will commence. Funding will be considered in the light of the board's internal priorities and the overall capital funding available to the Department.
