Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grants to Schools.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

258 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education whether funding will be made available to provide proper facilities for the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music and Dance; if so, when; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24610/96]

Funding for capital developments at the Dublin Institute of Technology, including the School of Music, is being considered in the context of a development plan which is at present being prepared by the institute.

As an interim measure, the College of Commerce building at Rathmines was made available last summer to improve accommodation at the school. Any additional funding to the £11.75 million made available to Dublin Institute of Technology under the 1994-99 European Regional Development Fund programme for capital developments at Dublin Institute of Technology will have to be considered in the normal way in the context of overall priorities and available resource constraints.
