Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sudanese Humanitarian Concerns.

Ray Burke

Ceist:

62 Mr. R. Burke asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs whether the Government is aware of the concerns of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland regarding the current humanitarian situation in Sudan; and if so, the steps, if any, being taken by the Government, as the national executive and EU President, to address these concerns. [24343/96]

I refer the Deputy to my written reply to Question No. 45 of 12 November 1996 and Question Nos. 102, 105 and 106 of 20 November 1996 which relate to this matter. I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm that Ireland, along with our EU partners, continues to convey our concerns to the Sudanese authorities about the need to pursue the peace process in Sudan and to provide assistance to those who have suffered from the conflict.
