Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Callely — the urgent need to honour the commitment in section 104 of the programme, A Government of Renewal, regarding health services in view of the crisis in services for people with disabilities and the resources, if any, which will be made available to improve such services in 1997; (2) Deputy Lawlor — the crisis in the maintenance of local authority housing in Dublin in advance of the handover of housing stock to the Dublin county councils which is scheduled for January 1997; (3) Deputy Joe Walsh — the need to take all necessary steps to alleviate the plight of the growing number of homeless people; (4) Deputy Martin — the need to provide funding for the urgently required extension to Our Lady of Lourdes national school, Ballinlough, Cork, in view of the current dilapidated conditions and concern for the health and safety of the children; (5) Deputies Batt O'Keeffe, Michael Ahern and Quill — the readaptation payments to ex-Irish Steel workers; (6) Deputy Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly)— the urgent need to provide a new Garda station for Tullamore, County Offaly, in view of the risk to the health and safety of the Garda Síochána and the public (7) Deputy Ó Cuív — an gá atá ann go leagfar píopa deich n-orlach ón Spidéal go Ros a Mhíl, le chinntiú go mbeidh soláthar ceart uisce sa gceantar seo; (8) Deputy Costello — the need to provide statutory protection for listed buildings; (9) Deputy Sargent — the failure to include in the draft text for the Intergovernmental Conference a fundamental right for EU citizens to a clean and healthy environment and the failure to treat sustainable development as a paramount objective of the EU during the Irish Presidency; (10) Deputy McCreevy — the need to encourage semi-State companies and other large Irish companies to give their tenders for uniforms to Irish companies rather than to overseas markets; (11) Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — the increasing problem of homelessness among children in the Dublin area; (12) Deputy McGinley — the need to expedite the application by Donegal County Council to have the proposed sewerage schemes for Gweedore, Burtonport and Ardara grouped together as Gaeltacht coastal schemes for EU Cohesion Funding; (13) Deputy McCormack — the regulations governing the eligibility of unemployed people to participate in community employment schemes; (14) Deputy Brendan Smiththe need to provide an additional milk quota to the Border region under the EU Programme for Peace the Reconciliation; (15) Deputy O'Hanlon — the need to bring forward proposals for amending legislation to regularise the situation of a couple under the Family Law Act, 1995.

The matters raised by Deputies Callely, O'Hanlon, Joe Walsh and Batt O'Keeffe, Michael Ahern and Quill have been selected for discussion.
