176 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the proposals, if any, he has to provide grant assistance to householders who need to carry out remedial work to their homes in view of the recent national radon survey; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can make no commitment at present concerning grant assistance to householders in respect of remedial work to homes with high radon levels. The matter is being kept under review in the light of Exchequer commitments and overall budgetary constraints.
