Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Quill. I call on the Deputy to state the matter of which she has given notice to me.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the suspension of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to enable the House to debate the important and urgent matter of the granting of institute of technology status to Cork Regional Technical College.
Having considered the matter fully, and as I announced yesterday, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
Is there any other way in which the issue can be raised? It is crucially important.
Deputies, including Deputy Quill, have sought other ways of raising the matter and I am considering their requests. I will communicate with the Deputies concerned shortly.
