Ceist:281 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved for the REP scheme in view of the fact that he applied in November 1995. [2271/97]
Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.
My Department has received an application under the REP scheme from the person concerned. It is one of a number which have elements of leased commonage for which payment is being claimed. My Department has had lengthy discussions with the REPS planning agencies concerned and has now commenced discussions with the European Commission as to whether REPS payment can be made in these cases. Decisions on payments in cases such as this will be made when these discussions have been completed.
