Vol. 474 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disease Prevention.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

125 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he advises fox hunts to avoid lands in which diseases such as brucellosis are present as is done by the Department of Agriculture in Northern Ireland on a regular basis to ensure that such highly contagious diseases are not easily spread. [3961/97]

Herdowners are advised as appropriate of the measures that should be taken to prevent the spread of diseases such as brucellosis from their restricted holdings.

It is the Department's practice to advise herdowners directly rather than third parties such as fox-hunts, of the measures necessary to prevent the spread of disease in relation to access to or exit from their holdings.
