107 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Justice the action, if any, she is considering under section 15 of the Coroner's Act, 1962 to determine if misconduct or neglect of duty occurred in the holding of an inquest (details supplied); if she will consider the request of the deceased's widow in the interest of the deceased's family and the public interest; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to his Question No. 194 on 4 February 1997 about the High Court action related to this case where I indicated that an appeal to the Supreme Court was being considered, arising from the High Court judgment of 30 January 1997.
I received on 4 February 1997 the request referred to by the Deputy, but I do not consider it would be appropriate for me to respond to the request for a full review of the matter pending a decision on whether a further appeal to the Supreme Court should be taken in this matter. I will reply to the request made as soon as court matters have been disposed of.
