Ceist:109 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of the trends in the incidence of brucellosis over the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4042/97]
Written Answers. - Brucellosis Outbreaks.
The number of brucellosis herd restrictions has increased significantly in the past year. At the end of December 1995, some 189 herds were restricted. Information on the position at the end of December 1996 is being compiled and will be conveyed to the Deputy when it becomes available. The additional actions to be taken to redress the situation will be discussed with representatives of the farming bodies and the veterinary groups in the coming weeks.
