Vol. 474 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Killeen — the need to provide secure residential accommodation for a person (details supplied) in County Clare; (2) Deputy Costello — the need to ensure that the money and property seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau is channelled into a special fund dedicated exclusively to the fight against drug abuse; (3) Deputy Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly)— the urgent need to provide a new Garda station for Tullamore, County Offaly, in view of the risk to the health and safety of the Garda Síochána and the public arising from the condition of the existing station; (4) Deputy Ring — the need to instruct the Western Health Board to appoint a dentist for the Belmullet area, County Mayo, either in a temporary or permanent capacity, in view of the delays in providing dental treatment for young people in the area; (5) Deputy Shortall — the urgent need to approve Dublin Corporation plans for the redevelopment of the Ballymun Estate, Dublin; (6) Deputy Flaherty — the urgent need to resolve the industrial relations problems in the Department of Education in light of the cancellation of the applied leaving certificate assessments which affected 3,000 students; (7) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the blockade of Irish hauliers in Spain; (8) Deputy Lynch — the need to devise a system whereby all exclusions from school are notified immediately to the Department of Education.

The matters raised by Deputies Costello, Killeen, Shortall and Dermot Ahern have been selected for discussion.
