87 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the amount paid by each local authority for higher education grants in respect of the 1996-7 academic year; and the date on which these payments were made to each local authority. [4096/97]
The information sought by the Deputy in relation to the 1996-7 academic year is not readily available in my Department as local authorities are recouped their expenditure in respect of the calendar year. The following tabular statement below sets out the amounts paid to local authorities to date in respect of their claims for the 1996 calendar year.
