93 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction the commencement of work on essential improvement works and an extension to Bantry secondary school, Ard Scoil Phobail, County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4117/97]
An extension of 753 square metres is currently being planned for Ard Scoil Phobail, Bantry. The Stage 1 documents, i.e. outline sketch scheme, were submitted to the building unit recently and are currently being examined by my Department's technical staff. A response will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible. Subject to the Stage 1 submission being approved, a planning and briefing meeting will then be convened in order to progress the project further.
A report concerning the condition of the roof and windows at the school was also submitted to my Department recently and is currently being examined by my Department's technical staff.
