Vol. 475 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

115 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the number of households in Ardee and mid-Louth which are receiving a public supply of water; the number which will benefit from the elimination of water charges; the number of group schemes in the mid-Louth area which are supplied by group or private schemes; the number of group schemes which have made application to be taken in charge by the county council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5549/97]

The taking in charge of group water schemes is a matter between the relevant local authority and the groups concerned. Information on the number of schemes taken in charge by Louth County Council and the number of households within the county which are connected either directly or indirectly by way of group schemes to the council's public water supply network is not available in my Department.

The 1991 Census Vol. 10 — Housing, to be published shortly by the Central Statistics Office, will give detailed information on permanent housing units, classified by water supply and geographic area and showing, inter alia, numbers of housing units connected directly or indirectly to a public water supply. No separate information on these matters is available in my Department.
