Vol. 475 No. 6

Written Answers. - Operational Programme Review.

Joe Walsh

Ceist:

148 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the cost of the mid-term review of the Operational Programme for Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry 1994-99, carried out by consultants, (details supplied). [5519/97]

The cost of the mid-term review of the operational programme for agriculture, rural development and forestry was £61,407.50 and has been met from the technical assistance element of the programme. The review was carried out as part of the overall review of the community support framework for Ireland, 1994-99 which is now also taking place.

Ceist:

149 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry his views on the recommendation contained in the mid-term review of the Operational Programme for Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry, 1994-99, that funding for headage payments should be cut by £46 million in order to reopen the control of farmyard pollution scheme. [5520/97]

The position of the Government and the social partners in relation to headage payments is clearly set out in Partnership 2000 which states "the Government will be maintaining the current level of OPARDF resources allocated to the scheme".

Ceist:

150 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will make available in the Oireachtas Library the mid-term review of the Operational Programme for Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry, 1994-99, carried out by consultants, (details supplied). [5521/97]

The mid-term review of the Operational Programme for Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry is confidential at this stage as it still has to be considered by the monitoring committee for the Community Support Framework (CSF) for Ireland. It will be a matter for that committee to decide whether the mid-term reviews of the nine operational programmes which form part of the CSF should be published or made available in the Oireachtas Library.
