Written Answers. - Garda Air Support Unit.
In April of last year, I obtained Government approval to acquire dedicated air support for the Garda Síochána. Contracts were signed last December for the supply of one fixed wing aircraft and one helicopter for the Garda air support unit. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that it is expected that both aircraft will have been delivered by the end of July 1997 and that operations will commence shortly after delivery.
