34 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for Justice the number of prosecutions which have been brought under section 7 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act, 1993, against persons engaged in prostitution in each of the years since the introduction of the Act. [5455/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that in 1995, the first year for which figures have been published, there were 19 prosecutions taken under section 7 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act, 1993.
