114 Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for the Environment when the interdepartmental committee on the transfer of the administration of supplementary welfare allowance rent subsidy from health boards to local authorities will report; the membership of the committee; the occasions on which it has met; and the progress the committee has made to date. The current membership of the committee is set out in the following table. The committee has met on five occasions. The committee invited interested parties to make submissions and some 35 submissions were received.

The proposed transfer involves a range of major issues, including staffing, industrial relations, policy, finance and service delivery. These are being considered by the committee having regard to the submissions received. It is not possible, at this stage, to give a precise timescale for completion of the committee's report.
