180 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to redraw the policing boundaries in order that co-ordination between all the agencies with influence over crime can be improved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6275/97]

The designation of police areas is governed by the Garda Síochána (Designations, Appointments and Discipline) Regulations, 1924. I have no plans at present to redraw Garda boundaries along the lines suggested by the Deputy.
