Vol. 476 No. 3

Written Answers. - Court Appeal Costs.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

122 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the cost to the State of the proceedings relating to a case (details supplied) up to the delivery of the High Court's judgment and to the conclusion of the case in the Supreme Court. [7145/97]

The costs to the State up to the delivery of the High Court judgment in the case in question have been assessed at £243,951.91. This figure does not include costs associated with work undertaken by officials of my Department, the Department of Health and the Chief State Solicitor's Office who were involved with the case in the normal course of their duties.

The costs associated with the Supreme Court appeal have yet to be determined.
