Written Answers. - Defence Forces Representations.
The Defence (Amendment) Act, 1990 provided for the establishment of an independent and effective system of representation for the Defence Forces. Under this Act, remuneration and certain other conditions of service come within the scope of representation of the Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association. Under the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Permanent Defence Force, which was established in agreement with the association, claims relating to the above matters may be processed. I am satisfied that the scheme is working well. Currently a number of issues relating to pay and conditions of service are being satisfactorily processed under the scheme.
