Information on the numbers of envelopes imported is not available from the trade statistics. The value of imported envelopes was £4.2 million in the ten month period January to October 1996, compared with £5.4 million for the year 1995.
The product classification system used in collecting trade statistics does not distinguish between different envelope categories.
Note: Overall, approximately 7 per cent of trade is unclassified by commodity. The unclassified trade includes low value transactions, parcel post, Shannon Free Airport trade, and some intra-EU estimates.
