Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

96 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for an angiogram in view of the fact that he has been waiting since April 1996, and his general practitioner considers the matter very urgent, and further in view of a letter from the Western Health Board received over one month ago which said he would be called within one week in spite of the fact that nothing has been done to date. [7654/97]

Limerick East): As the provision of cardiac treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance inquiries were made from the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board in relation to this case. I understand that a reply issued to the Deputy on 14 March 1997 confirming an appointment for the patient in question.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

97 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will urgently arrange for a long-term bed to be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that he has been hospitalised due to a stroke for the past nine weeks, awaiting a long-term care bed; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this man has a mentally retarded child; and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that this delay is occurring in the Southern Health Board area. [7691/97]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of long-stay care for the elderly in County Cork is a matter for the Southern Health Board. I have asked the Southern Health Board to investigate this matter and respond directly to the Deputy with its findings.
