Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Nursing Homes Subvention.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

98 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for an application for subvention to be examined and dealt with by the Southern Health Board in relation to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is in a private nursing home and in very ill health; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Southern Health Board has refused to accept this application due to the fact that it was made within two years of the applicant being admitted to a nursing home; and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that many other subvention applications have been accepted and awarded in other areas of Cork from patients who had been admitted weeks earlier. [7693/97]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the administration of the nursing homes subvention scheme in the Cork area is the responsibility of the Southern Health Board. I have asked the Southern Health Board to investigate this matter and respond directly to the Deputy with its findings.
