Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

140 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment the grant aid, if any, which is available to install a domestic water supply to a private dwelling of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [7677/97]

Group water scheme grants of up to £1,600 per house are payable where two or more households combine to provide a common piped water supply. There are no grants available in respect of the installation of a private water supply system for a single house.

Tom Moffatt

Ceist:

141 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, which has been made in providing a small sewerage system for the village of Bonniconlon, Ballina, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7678/97]

Contact documents for the Bonniconlon sewerage scheme are with my Department at present but, having regard to the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage schemes programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.

Tom Moffatt

Ceist:

142 Dr. Moffatt asked the Minister for the Environment the steps, if any, he and the Government are taking in relation to the cessation of house and commercial development in the town of Ballina, County Mayo, due to the lack of a proper storm water system and the lack of extension of the sewerage system, in view of the fact that this is hampering the development of this town. [7679/97]

As indicated in the replies to Questions Nos. 107 and 119 of 3 December 1996, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance any element of stage two of the Ballina sewerage scheme, having regard to the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme generally.
