Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Refurbishment.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

156 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the submission, if any, received from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 8 for funding by her Department; if so, the stage of this submission; and the timescale involved for funding in view of the urgency of the works and the location of the school in a disadvantaged urban area. [7396/97]

In February, 1997, the school referred to by the Deputy submitted an application for grant-aid towards the cost of various improvement works to the fabric of the school building. The Office of Public Works has been requested to visit the school and report on the proposed works. On receipt of this report the case will be considered for grant-aid in light of the urgency of the works and the capital funds available. I am not in a position to give a definitive time-scale for this project.
