Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - School Amalgamations.

John O'Donoghue

Ceist:

202 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education whether the commitment given to the parents of Camp, Tralee, County Kerry, on the closure of Camp national school in 1996 that their children would be accommodated at Aughacashla national school will be honoured; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7759/97]

Camp national school was amalgamated with Aughacashla national school in 1970 in accordance with the general arrangements at the time for the absorbtion of teaching staff and pupils into the amalgamated school. It is my Department's intention that pupils from the former Camp school area will continue to be accommodated in the Aughacashla school.

If the Deputy has details of a particular problem, I will arrange to have the matter investigated by my Department.
