Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - British Irish Contacts.

David Andrews

Ceist:

23 Mr. Andrews asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the communication, if any, he has had with the British Prime Minister regarding European matters since the end of Ireland's Presidency of the EU. [5807/97]

I have not had any communication with the British Prime Minister regarding European matters since the end of the Irish Presidency. However, I have regular contacts with my British counterpart in the context of meetings of the General Affairs Council and at other ministerial meetings such as the ASEAN/ASEM meetings in Singapore last month. At official level, contacts between the British and Irish authorities on European matters are conducted on an ongoing basis.
