Written Answers - Census of Population.
A preliminary report containing population headcount information at the level of district electoral divisions and wards was published in July 1996, three months after the 1996 census of population.
It is planned to publish the definitive demographic details from the 1996 census in the second half of 1997. Three separate volumes will contain analyses of the population classified by area; age, sex and marital status, and household composition and family units. Local population reports containing demographic details for each of the counties of the country as well as small area population statistics will be made available over the same period.
Reports covering the remaining topics on the census form, usual residence, birthplace and migration, Irish language, education, economic status and occupation will be published during 1998.
