Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Chief State Solicitor's Office.

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

55 Ms O'Donnell asked the Taoiseach the main findings and recommendations of the report in relation to an examination of the administration of the Chief State Solicitor's office in respect of personal injury claims; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7573/97]

In reply to Parliamentary Question No. 34 on 11 March, 1997, I explained that Mr. Jim McCormack's report on his examination of the administration by the Chief State Solicitor's office of personal injury claims against the State involved strategic issues which it would not be appropriate to publicise. However, action has been taken on a number of fronts on Mr. McCormack's suggestions, for example the organisation and management review, the preparation of an SMI statement and the appointment of a claims manager, which will be made shortly.
