Vol. 477 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Ceist:

152 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Education when she will sanction the provision of 11 extra classrooms and ancillary works for St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick, where there has been severe overcrowding for some time and where prefabricated classrooms, which are now in extreme bad condition, have had to be used for many years in this suburb of Limerick where the population is increasing rapidly. [8523/97]

An architect from my Department visited St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick, on 21 March last and carried out a detailed survey of the school site. Design drawings are currently in preparation and it is anticipated that a sketch scheme for phase one of the project will issue to the school management shortly for their approval.

When all the design work is completed, a decision on the timing of the tender and contract processes will be taken in the light of available funding.
