Vol. 477 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Michael P. Kitt

Ceist:

172 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Justice the proposals, if any, there are to devolve part of the Land Registry to the western region; the number of staff dealing with folio maps in the Galway section; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8452/97]

I wish to inform the Deputy that there are no proposals at present to decentralise any part of the Land Registry to the western region. Arrangements are proceeding for the decentralisation of part of the operations of the Land Registry to Waterford city. There are 23 members of staff employed in records and copy map sections, which serve the five counties, Galway, Clare, Roscommon, Sligo and Mayo, whose duties include dealing with the issue of copy file plan folios for the Galway section.
