235 Mr. Nolan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, his Department has taken to protect the Irish poultry industry from the effects of Newcastle Disease outbreaks in Northern Ireland. [8448/97]

There are currently 23 confirmed outbreaks of Newcastle Disease in poultry in Northern Ireland. The measures taken by my Department to safeguard against the introduction of this disease were outlined in my reply to similar questions on 20 February 1997.
