Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

129 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a project (details supplied) in County Galway has not been sanctioned; the date on which this will be done; the amount of money being allocated for this project in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8747/97]

A preliminary report for Ballinasloe regional water supply scheme is with my Department at present but, having regard to the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.

Ceist:

130 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a project (details supplied) in County Galway has not been sanctioned; the date on which this will be done; the amount of money being allocated for this project in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8748/97]

As already announced, responsibility for the administration of the group schemes programme has been devolved to the local authorities, subject to existing commitments on foot of approvals issued by my Department. Where schemes have not yet been approved, including the Lawrencetown-Eyrecourt scheme, it will in future be a matter for the relevant local authority to deal with grant applications.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

131 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment if funding has been provided by him towards the Maghera group water scheme, Ardara, County Donegal; if so, the amount allocated; and the current position in relation to this project. [8806/97]

As already announced, responsibility for the administration of the group schemes programme has been devolved to the local authorities, subject to existing commitments on foot of approvals issued by my Department. Where schemes have already been approved, such as the Maghera scheme, the local authority will issue the grant allocation to the group a soon as possible. The block grant allocations notified to local authorities on 26 March 1997 take into account the commitments made, including £28,000 in respect of the Ardara scheme.

Ceist:

132 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Environment if funding will be provided in 1997 towards the Ardara sewerage scheme, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8807/97]

Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot indicate when it may be possible to approve this scheme.
