Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Joe Walsh

Ceist:

153 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the commencement of work on a sewerage network and flood relief works for Bandon, County Cork; and, if not, when he will make an allocation of money to allow this project to go tender. [9126/97]

Following examination of the preliminary report for stage 2 of the Bandon sewerage scheme, my Department requested Cork County Council to re-examine the proposal to see if a more cost-effective scheme could be prepared. The council's response is awaited.

A grant of £75,000 was paid last year under the small schemes programme to enable the council to address the most acute flooding problems in the town.
