Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Special Education Needs.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

163 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the special assistance, if any, available to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 who is sitting the junior certificate in 1997 and who suffers from severe dyslexia. [8775/97]

The position regarding the candidate referred to by the Deputy is that an application has been made on his behalf by his school for special examination arrangements in the junior certificate examination which he is due to take this year. The application is at present under consideration by a Department psychologist who, I understand, will shortly complete his consideration of the matter. My Department will be in touch with the authorities of the candidate's school as soon as this consideration is complete.
